Textiles for Tiny Living

Collection images.jpg

Financial transcendence is an idea that rewards hard work with financial security. Owning a big house and a nice car are symbols of wealth and success. The tiny house movement directly challenges this idea by reprioritizing how one spends their time and energy. People are actively choosing to invest in a life of experiences and opting out of the time and financial expenses of owning a large home. Tiny homes typically range from 150 to 700 square feet which causing inhabitants to actively participate in a lifestyle that incorporates sustainable living, efficiency, and minimalism. Living in a tiny home forces people to surround themselves with things they love, making each choice of what is brought into the home an intentional decision.

Inspired by the feeling of release I experience while surfing in Rockaway Beach where I often visit to escape the pressure of city life . I was inspired by the way the gritty and rough textures of the city collided with the expanse of the ocean and the way the light interacts with the humid sea breeze. I believe this release is something many tiny home dwellers are also searching for when buying a tiny home.
